This course provides students with an understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a fire and emergency warden in accordance with legal requirements, as well as factors involved in the safe evacuation of a workplace or site in an emergency.
It is good practice to have a number of staff in your workplace who are dedicated fire emergency wardens and can assist other staff members and visitors should an emergency occur. Some organisations such as childcare centres, schools, hospitals and hotels need to have these in place by law under the Fire and Emergency New Zealand (FENZ) (Fire Safety, Evacuation Procedures and Evacuation Schemes) Regulations 2018.

A Fire and Emergency Warden in the Workplace certificate will be issued on successful completion of this course.
To maintain competency, we recommend regular refresher training. Depending on the industry you work in, this will vary. MediTrain’s recommendation is every two years.
