This 3-day PHEC course provides advanced knowledge and practical capability to deliver a high level of care when help is hours away rather than minutes. Recognised by outdoor education providers, adventure tourism operators, and conservation teams, this course prepares you to confidently manage emergencies in isolated environments before handing patients over to ambulance or rescue services.

Ideal for outdoor instructors, tramping and alpine club members, marine crews, rural responders, and first aiders who require advanced emergency training beyond standard first aid.

Our blended learning approach combines structured online modules with intensive, hands-on classroom training. Learn at your own pace before attending the 3-day workshop to ensure you arrive prepared.

Students receive a comprehensive Advanced First Aid Manual aligned with New Zealand Resuscitation Council guidelines.

Over three intensive days, you will explore emergency care theory in an interactive setting, then apply that knowledge in more than 15 realistic scenarios designed to challenge and sharpen your decision-making under pressure.

Provide basic emergency care (Level 3, 14 credits)

This PHEC course NZ aligns with NZQA Unit Standard 29321. Upon successful completion, learners may have credits reported to NZQA.

To have your credits logged, please provide your NZQA number or NSN and your date of birth to your MediTrain instructor.

To enrol in this PHEC course NZ, participants must hold a current first aid certificate (less than 2 years old) that includes NZQA unit standards 6402, 6401 and 6400.
