Complete your theory online before class, at your pace and on your schedule

MediTrain’s online learning system is designed to make your first aid course more flexible, more accessible, and easier to retain. Whether you're doing a refresher or a full workplace course, you can complete the theoretical part of your training online before attending your in-person session.

What’s it like to do the online learning?

Once you book your course, you’ll receive a login link to access to the learning platform. It’s easy to use and works well on both desktop and mobile. The online learning is broken into manageable sections that include reading, videos, drag-and-drop activities, and short quizzes.

It’s designed to be straightforward and interactive, so you’re not just scrolling through slides — you’re actively learning.

For example, in the DRSABCD section, you’ll work through examples that help you identify dangers, know when to call for help, and understand the steps to take in those first critical minutes of an emergency. At the end of each section, you’ll complete a short quiz. If you miss a question, you’ll only need to retry the ones you got wrong.

A platform built for real learners

This course has been designed to remove barriers to learning. That means:

• You can pause and return to the online learning whenever it suits you

• It uses a mix of images, video, and interactivity to help the content sink in

• It’s written in plain English, not medical jargon

• It aligns with the latest guidance from the New Zealand Resuscitation Council

There are no trick questions, and the quizzes are built to help you reinforce key concepts, not trip you up. The goal is to help you build confidence before you arrive in class.

Why we built it this way

MediTrain’s owner, Adrian Brown, says the online learning module was designed with the same philosophy that shapes the in-person classes and printed manuals: making learning stick.

“We didn’t want the online component to be just another hoop to jump through. It’s about helping people actually learn and remember what to do in an emergency. We’ve put thought into making it simple, accessible, and something you can work through at your own pace, in your own time.”

That same commitment can be seen in how MediTrain instructors run classes, how the materials are structured, and how the content is continually updated. It’s not about box ticking. It’s about helping people feel ready when it matters most.

What happens after the online part?

Once you’ve completed the online learning, you attend your one-day in-person course. The instructor will revisit key parts of the theory and guide you through practical, hands-on skills like CPR, responding to injuries, and managing real-world emergencies. You’ll also have the chance to ask questions and clarify anything from the online module.

Your instructor can confirm that your online learning has been completed ahead of time. There’s no need to bring a printout or extra documents — everything is recorded in the system.

Why it matters

Some providers still require you to complete all your learning in class. MediTrain offers a blended learning approach because it gives you more time, more flexibility, and better results.

When you walk into your course, you’re not starting from scratch — you’ve already had the chance to absorb the key concepts and build your confidence.

That means more time for real discussion and practice, and a better learning experience overall. Book a course today.
