Basic Workplace First Aid
The minimum required for low-risk workplaces. Covers CPR, choking, bleeding, shock and common injuries and illnesses.
Basic Workplace First Aid meets the minimum training requirement for low-risk workplaces such as offices, retail stores and other environments where serious injuries are less likely. It suits appointed first aiders, office managers and staff who want dependable skills without the full comprehensive programme.
You will learn how to respond confidently to the most common emergencies, including CPR and AED use, choking, bleeding, shock, and everyday injuries and illnesses such as sprains, burns, asthma and allergic reactions.
The course runs in a blended format, with online self-study completed before 6.5 hours of practical training in class. This keeps the classroom session focused on hands-on practice and realistic scenarios rather than theory.
Assessment is completed during the course against NZQA unit standards 6401 and 6402. Successful participants receive a certificate that is valid for two years, and refresher options are available when renewal is due.
